Shoo fly
This fly was annoying me while I ate lunch, so I was happy to hear a more panicked "bzzz" when it got caught in the web above my head.
At one point the winged pest got free, but I grabbed it off the floor and threw it back in the web.
Then the "bzzz" changed pitch, sounding resigned to its fate and I felt a little bit sad.
Only a little bit.
Leeton huntsman
This only the third huntsman I've seen in Leeton.
The first was one that emerged from our car after a trip to Pindari, which is near Marrar and that's a Wiradjuri word for a big spider.

Marrar huntsman spider
On this blog are various photos of large huntsman spiders and most were shot at Brucedale.
I was interested to learn this year that the name of the nearby town of Marrar comes from the Wiradjuri word for a large spider.
