Today it looked like this ringneck parrot might be starting a nest in a hollow near the front gates. He appeared to be attempting to attract a mate, sitting on the branch singing and shaking his tail feathers.
The hollow is hotly contested. Last spring some rainbow lorikeets stopped a grass parrot from attending to her chicks. Today this ringneck cleaned out their remains and I picked up a lovely bird skull.
