The images above are in reverse chronological order, which is a bit more dramatic. The owl was attacked, knocked unconscious and then recovered and attempted to escape.
It was about 5pm and a kookaburra was heard to make an angry noise that made the regular laugh sound like a ratchet. Then the owl fell from a tree.
As you can see in the bottom pic, it was unconscious. When I took the second shot I saw one eye was turning, unfocused. After a little time it attempted flight and fell over.
Eventually, after collecting itself for nearly ten minutes, it flew off and was attacked by magpies. Not sure if it survived.
