Narrandera is said to derive from a local Wiradyuri clan called the 'Narrungdera'.
This word Ngarrang, in turn, is said to mean 'jew-lizard,' which is one name given to these bearded dragons.
So it was surprising to see one of these little reptiles in Narrandera today during lunchtime at the primary school.
