Encounters with animals, insects, weeds, reptiles and spiders
Today it looked like this ringneck parrot might be starting a nest in a hollow near the front gates. He appeared to be attempting to attract a mate, sitting on the branch singing and shaking his tail feathers.
The hollow is hotly contested.
Last spring some rainbow lorikeets stopped a grass parrot from attending to her chicks.
Today this ringneck cleaned out their remains and I picked up a lovely bird skull.
